Why Choose Steve?

1.He knows his stuff.

2.I wanted to have confidence that I was making the most of the limited time I have to train – Steve provides this.

3.I want to make sure in every race I get to feel the finishing tape across my chest – Following Steve’s schedules provide the best guarantee.

4.He coaches elite athletes – so he has to up to scratch on the best techniques – I benefit from his experience with elite athletes.

5.He’s a nice guy.”

The University of Birmingham Sports Scholarships

University Sport Birmingham's Sports Scholarship programme is one of the best in the UK, providing a comprehensive package of support and financial benefits to meet the needs of the individual athlete, Triathlon is a 'focus' sport at Birmingham in recognition of high levels of performance over recent years and is one of the many sports supported by USB in a variety of ways:

USB Scholarships & Bursaries

The University awards 20 scholarships each year to athletes who are studying, or about to study at Birmingham, and are competing at or near national/International standard.  The scholarship is worth up to £5,000, providing financial & specialist support.  In addition a further 10 Bursaries are awarded to athletes who have been identified as athletes with potential to compete at national level and making a significant contribution to the performance of their AU team.  This award is worth up to £1,000.

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme

At present, University of Birmingham supports over 30 TASS athletes from a range of sports including triathlon.  The athletes have access to elite coaching whilst studying at Birmingham as well as specialist support through the Performance Sport - Sport Science & Medicine Centre, which is staffed by a highly qualified and experience team working together to support our athletes.

Paul Weston Triathlon Scholarship

In memory of Paul (Sport & Exercise Sciences, 2002), additional funding is available for one outstanding individual in the sport of Triathlon.  This is available in addition to any TASS or USB scholarship.

Applications are now open for 2009-2010 USB Sports Scholarships.
